TikTok expands "Add to Music App" feature to 160+ countries

TikTok unveiled its "Add to Music app" feature today, extending its reach to 163 new countries. These include a diverse range of regions such as Austria, Egypt, Norway, Uruguay, and Zimbabwe, among others (Full list).

Initially introduced in the U.S. and the U.K. last November, TikTok later expanded the feature to 19 additional countries, including Canada, Japan, Germany, and the Philippines. This function allows users to seamlessly add songs from TikTok clips to their preferred music streaming services, including Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Spotify, depending on regional availability.

Users can easily access the "Add Music" button located below the clip description and next to the track name. Upon tapping the button, they can select their desired music service, with the option to change their default preference in the app's settings.

For those who don't designate a playlist for added songs from TikTok, they will automatically be saved to a default list, similar to Spotify's "Liked Songs" list.

Spotify, recognizing the significant role social platforms play in music discovery, has formed partnerships with various platforms like TikTok, BeReal, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter (now X), enabling users to effortlessly add songs to their Spotify playlists.

Last year, ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, launched TikTok Music, a music service available in Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Singapore, and Indonesia. The company also revealed plans to make the "Add to Music App" feature accessible to TikTok Music users in the near future.
