Threads lets users set default feed preferences

Threads-1

Meta's social platform Threads is introducing a significant user experience update by allowing users to customize their default feed view. The platform's new feature enables users to select between the For You feed, Following feed, or any personalized custom feed as their primary view when launching the app.

The feature is currently in its testing phase, as announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Users participating in the test can modify their default feed by pressing and holding any feed option at the top of their screen, selecting "edit feeds," and arranging them in their preferred order. The feed placed in the first position automatically becomes the default view upon opening the application.

This development addresses a long-standing user request that has persisted since the platform's initial launch. The modification represents a shift toward more user-centric customization, allowing people to tailor their experience according to their preferences.

Recent platform enhancements extend beyond feed customization. The For You algorithm has been refined to emphasize content from followed accounts while reducing suggested posts. Additional improvements include an enhanced search functionality and support for landscape video content.

These updates emerge amid growing competition in the social media landscape, particularly from platforms like Bluesky. The competitive environment has accelerated the implementation of user-requested features and platform improvements.
