Instagram Tests "Social Library" for Easier Access to Shared Content

Instagram Post

Instagram is working on a new feature called “Social Library,” which is currently being prototyped internally. The idea behind this feature is to offer a convenient way to access various types of content, such as posts, Reels, and media shared in chat threads, along with posts you’ve liked or saved in collections. This development was revealed by developer and leaker Alessandro Paluzzi, who shared screenshots of the prototype.

Based on the shared images, the Social Library section appears to have a search function, indicated by a magnifying glass icon, which could make it much easier to find specific content, whether it’s a post, Reel, or something shared in a conversation. This could prove useful for those who want quick access to previously viewed media.

Despite its potential, it seems this feature is still in the early stages of development. According to Meta’s spokesperson Christine Pai, the Social Library is an internal prototype and is not currently available for external testing. This means that while promising, it remains uncertain whether or when it might be made available to the public.

In addition to the Social Library, Paluzzi recently noted another possible feature in development—Instagram may soon allow users to share their comments on posts directly to Threads.
