Google is expanding its School Time feature to smartphones and tablets, offering parents more control over their children's device usage during school hours.

Google is introducing a new tool to help parents manage their children's device usage during school hours. Called "School Time," this feature will soon be available on Android phones, tablets, and select Samsung Galaxy Watches.

Originally launched on the Fitbit Ace LTE smartwatch, School Time allows parents to set specific timeframes when device functionality is limited. This includes restricting access to certain apps, calls, and messages. The goal is to minimize distractions and help children focus on their studies.

Parents can customize School Time settings using the Family Link app, tailoring the feature to their child's needs and age. While the feature is primarily designed for younger children, Google also recognizes the need for digital well-being among older teens. To address this, they are introducing additional tools for managing screen time and distractions for teenagers who may not require the full level of parental control offered by School Time.
